WHO IS SOUTHWEST LABS
Southwest Labs is an advanced clinical toxicology lab located in Albuquerque, NM. Southwest Labs was formed by native New Mexicans with years of experience as reference laboratory professionals and addiction treatment specialists in response to the shortcomings of impersonal, corporate mega-labs who have no interest in our communities. We focus on a single area of specialization – clinical drug testing in support of state-mandated Prescription Monitoring Programs. We test for a full range of drugs and use the most advanced technology available (LC/MS/MS). Southwest Labs also supports physicians and their staff with training, monitoring, and education programs designed to reduce drug abuse and address the growing drug overdose epidemic.
WHY DID WE ESTABLISH SOUTHWEST LABS?
SWL decided to offer an alternative to the giant, impersonal, out-of-state labs that many doctors have relied on for their patient testing needs. These corporate mega-labs have no interest in New Mexico communities, they often provide less than optimum service and response time, and they don’t give back to the people of New Mexico through charitable drug-related philanthropy and give-back programs. They don’t actively support physicians and their staff with training, monitoring, and education programs designed to reduce drug abuse and address the growing heroin epidemic. Southwest Labs is changing that!
The hallmarks of our service philosophy are:
Personal Attention and Extraordinary Service
Comprehensive Support for our clients Prescription Drug Monitoring Program
Giving Back: Taking Action in the Solution to Drug Abuse and Overdose Death in New Mexico
Economic Impact: Keeping it Local is Keeping it Real
In addition to our comprehensive testing capabilities, Southwest Labs assists practitioners in establishing and maintaining effective internal patient monitoring protocols, thereby supporting medicolegal requirements, elevating patient compliance, and actively lowering drug abuse and overdose deaths in our state.
Many physicians use first generation immunoassay (IA) and point of care testing (POCT), which can be up to 30% inaccurate. Drug test inaccuracies, including false positives and false negatives, occurring at these rates is simply not acceptable, especially if reducing medication diversion and abuse is a true goal. Therefore, Southwest Labs uses the most advanced drug testing instrumentation available – liquid chromatography-dual mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS), which is 99.9% accurate. Using this technology, physician monitoring programs are truly effective, patient care is administered at a higher level, and the physicians and caregivers take an active role in reducing drug abuse and preventing overdoses.
Southwest Labs is focused on a single area of specialization – clinical drug testing for drugs of abuse via urine or saliva.
