Southwest Labs is an advanced toxicology reference laboratory, headquartered in Albuquerque, dedicated to medical professionals, patients, and communities. Southwest Labs is focused on a single area of specialization – clinical drug testing-and we use the most advanced drug testing instrumentation available. Our team dedicates itself not only to providing the highest level of service in our field, but also to improving the lives through combating the drug overdose epidemic and assisting medical practitioners in implementing meaningful testing programs.

Essential Duties:

Receptionist will primarily serve as the first point of contact for all laboratory visitors either in person or via telephone. Receptionist will coordinate communication with other team members, direct visitors accordingly and maintain lab security systems.

  • Welcomes visitors by greeting them, in-person or via telephone

  • Directs visitors by maintaining employee and department directories and referring inquires

  • Maintains security procedures; monitors logbook; issues visitor badges

  • Maintains telecommunication system for laboratory phone and console operation

  • Maintains safe and clean reception area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations

  •  Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs

  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed


  • Education: Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Experience: 1-2 years of work experience relating to above listed job description

  • Skills: Clerical skills including but not limited to: verbal communication, telecommunication, proficiency in Microsoft Office, Assisting Accounting (AR & AP), logistical issues, handling data entry tasks and supply management

  • Personal attributes: Must exhibit professionalism with a positive attitude and welcoming demeanor. Must have client/patient focus, organization, handle pressure well and be willing to be a team player and take on other tasks as needed.

  • Training: HIPPA/OSHA certificate - on site training will be provided

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently performs work while standing, walking or sitting

  • Frequently exposed to blood borne pathogens and may be required to wear personal protective equipment.

  • May be required to work flexible work schedule, including weekends and holidays.

  • Occasionally required to lift, push and pull up to 25 pounds.

  • Required to communicate and interact with employees

Job Specifications:

This position will work at our Albuquerque laboratory and is full-time, with a typical schedule of Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.
